With clean lines and a minimalist aesthetic, there’s a distinct resort feel to this home design, which was created to complement the sweeping coastal views and unique topography of the homeowners’ City Beach block.
Designed and built by Cambuild in conjunction with Banham Architects, the home embraces the vistas and northern light, yet still provides privacy from the street to create a sanctuary for the homeowners. Elevation is therefore the key theme within this highly bespoke project, with all indoor and outdoor living and entertaining areas on the top floor.
The four-bedroom, three-storey home maximises ocean views in every possible way, and the concrete roof allows for a streamlined and minimalistic façade. The height of the home enables the homeowners to see ships on the Indian Ocean, and even glimpse passing whales, all with the convenience of being just 20 minutes from Perth’s CBD.
The brief was to create a home that not only captured the outstanding views, but that was also easy to live in, light and minimalist in appearance. Success on such a project required the highest level of expertise and innovative thinking. The collaboration between Cambuild and Banham Architects has certainly delivered on all counts.
The sparkling cantilevered swimming pool on the upper floor and the glass waterfall entry feature set the tone for a home conceived to relax and entertain guests with ease. Glass features extensively throughout the home and, with more than half the walls constructed with glass, it connects the inside with the outside and allows an extensive level of natural light in.
Another key feature of the home is the flat concrete roof to maximise the height of the home within height restrictions and better capture views. The roof is especially slender at the front and sweeps out in a curved shape over the balcony area.
