Bosch Timber Floors Project 8
The owners of this home desired timber flooring that would create great interest and appeal. Bosch Timber Floors provided timber flooring that is the centrepiece of the interior design, allowing the homeowners to build upon it with complementing furnishings and décor.
Bosch Timber Floors worked closely with the client to select a timber that would also complement their lifestyle. The resulting choice was turpentine timber, a less well-known but very well-regarded Australian-grown timber with a stunning appearance and a high Janka hardness rating.
Turpentine timber is a very functional flooring material as its hardness rating makes it more resistant to dents and bruising from high heel shoes or having heavy objects dropped on it. Turpentine timber also displays unique colours and tones to create an instant ‘wow’ factor.
Bosch Timber Floors has incorporated turpentine timber flooring in all living areas of the home, including an elevator. A Sellys VBS vapour barrier and direct-stick adhesive system has been used, as well as an Enviropro two-pack waterborne satin coating system. Both the adhesive system and coating system have low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to provide a healthier installation and fewer toxic chemicals in the finished floor.
With the home capturing views of the ocean, it was important for the tone of the timber to work well with the beachside hues. The contrast between the warmth of the turpentine timber and the bright blue of the ocean is extremely effective.
