The owners of this classically- styled Kardinya home wanted to achieve a traditional look that complements their balustrade without having to choose a timber that would overpower the space.

Sydney Blue Gum was the perfect choice for the space, as its rich red tones are a little lighter than Jarrah, which is often a popular option. This timber blends a contemporary aesthetic with traditional settings better than any other flooring on the market.

The clean feel of the standard and better grade timber and its subtle colour changes successfully produced the homeowners desired look. Sydney Blue Gum is not as well-known as many other Australian timber species, but as the featured project illustrates, in the right setting its light red to brown tones with splashes of cream heartwood enhance the warmth in a space without making it feel small.

Bosch Timber Floors supplied all of the materials, and worked in conjunction with flooring professionals, Daniel Schoenfeld, who completed the installation, and Jimmy O’Brien, who did the sanding and coating, to complete the floor to the highest possible standards.

A Selleys direct stick flooring adhesive, together with Selleys vapour barrier, provides a single system and strong bond for the adhesion of the timber to the subfloor. After sanding, the floor and stairs were coated with the highly regarded Bona Traffic HD (heavy duty) waterborne coating system. The Bona Traffic HD waterborne coating is the hardest wearing waterborne coating available, and provides a stunning look to any finished floor in either the low sheen satin or the natural looking extra matte finish.

Sydney Blue Gum timber is also available in a feature grade for customers that want to achieve a more rustic look in their home.
