Sustainable All The Way
Phil Kelleher Homes has been awarded the 2016 Housing Industry Association (HIA) GreenSmart Western Australian Home of the Year award! Phil Kelleher Homes has been building sustainable homes in Western Australia’s South-West for many years. On a recent project, the homeowners realised their landscaping and external finishes would be more costly than they originally thought, so the overall budget had to be adjusted. The home’s solar panels were the main feature the homeowners chose to forego, but Kelleher knew that in the future, the environmentally designed home would benefit greatly from a solar power system.
Kelleher contacted the solar company and ordered the system as a gift to his clients. He also organised for grass trees to be removed from the driveway and a building site to be replanted around the home. With its many energy-efficient features and sustainable building practices, the home was given an 8.5-star GreenSmart rating and went on to win the 2016 GreenSmart Western Australian Home of the Year award!
