RETRO REVIVAL

This latest project from Xon Construction is a stunning balance of 1960s charm, modern sophistication and energy efficiency. The client desired a complete home renovation that retained the character of a mid-century home, while upgrading it for the comfort and ease of today. The homeowners wanted the upgrades to meet the requirements of Passivhaus EnerPHit standards – an energy efficient system that will keep their growing family healthy and comfortable year-round.

Xon Constructions masterfully engaged with the five principles of Passivhaus to increase the comfort, efficiency and health of the home. The airtightness of the home was increased, UPVC double glazed doors and windows were installed, insulation was increased throughout, thermal bridges were reduced and a Brink HRV unit was installed to provide continuously fresh, filtered air.

To make use of the available space, the home sits towards the back right of the property, allowing for expansive grass and garden areas, a swimming pool, two-car garage and a fully planted green roof – creating the perfect new-age oasis with an old-school twist.
