This majestic garden was created to perfectly complement the somewhat formal home it surrounds. Neat edging and topiaries abut softer grasses, lush climbers and the wispy foliage of a majestic jacaranda. Structure is also found in frangipani trees and the striking silhouettes of abundant agave, which set off the tropical edge that makes this otherwise formal garden so unique. The result is an inviting outdoor space that is as beautiful to look at as it is to spend time in. In pursuit of the perfect landscape to suit their home and lifestyle, the owners procured some extra space from the neighbouring property, which gave Tim Davies Landscaping an even bigger canvas on which to bring to life this layered and well-thought-out space.

The garden is defined by a very simple palette of plants, with small and medium varieties kept consistent throughout so that feature trees (including citrus) have even more impact. Unlike many gardens of this size that tend to have a singular central area with surrounding garden beds, Tim Davies Landscaping created zones in the garden that are like outdoor rooms for entertaining and relaxing. Expansive stretches of lawn create a parkland feel in the urban environment, inviting the residents to picnic and play in their very own backyard. In keeping with the formal theme, the garden beds are bordered with cobblestone, which also joins travertine to pave the hardscaped areas and pool coping. The contrast of these two stones adds visual interest, and their combination perfectly complements the home’s exterior, as well as the glistening blue water of the swimming pool. Garden lighting accentuates all the area’s best elements and completes the landscape design, which Tim Davies Landscaping takes great pride in maintaining.
