The owners of the featured property engaged Mondo Exclusive Homes to create a contemporary, stylish abode that would complement their neighbourhood surrounds, and the result is both practical and utterly striking. Building on a constrained block was a challenge, however with careful planning and tight scheduling, Mondo Exclusive Homes was able to finish the home earlier than anticipated with minimal impact on neighbouring properties. As a family who enjoys spending time preparing meals together, it was important that the kitchen serve as the central hub of the home. With a versatile scullery, high-end appliances and plenty of storage, the space not only looks fantastic, but also accommodates their love of cooking. Carefully planned preparation areas also ensure that the clients have plenty of room to work alongside one another, without impeding on each other’s personal space.

The kitchen overlooks a spacious open-plan living area that flows seamlessly to a generously-sized alfresco area. Here, a neutral mix of colours and textures has been incorporated, with Caesarstone benchtops and Villeroy & Boch basins and toilets, as well as bamboo flooring. Each element complements the others throughout the home’s interior. Another key component of the brief was for the children to have their own space on the first floor. The upper level includes a study, three generously proportioned bedrooms, a lounge area and a balcony. There is also a luxurious parent’s retreat located on the ground floor, complete with a built-in fireplace and feature bookshelf.

The exterior of the home offers plenty of street appeal, thanks to the stunning contemporary façade. The home’s outdoor living space is beautifully complemented by the gorgeous built-in spa and outdoor area, which can be viewed through the full-height glass sliding doors located at the rear of the ground floor. The design also features a number of energy-saving fixtures and appliances. Cavity wall insulation was used throughout the home, while R4.1 ceiling batts and Anticon roofing blankets, LED lighting and 4-star fixtures and fittings help cut down costs on heating, cooling and the need for constant lighting.
