This incredible home in Watermans Bay is a truly unique addition to the neighbourhood. Working closely with the clients, who have lived on the property for more than 30 years, Mondo Exclusive Homes and designer Grant Henderson created a low-maintenance, sustainable abode that is suited to the homeowner’s lifestyle needs. By only building rooms that the occupants require, Mondo Exclusive Homes ensured the house takes full advantage of the available space, and the spectacular ocean views.

Showcasing a striking charcoal palette, and V-groove panelling, the stunning façade exudes coastal charm. The relaxed style of the exterior is continued into the foyer, which features a lift and large staircase with a stunning custom-made lighthouse feature from the United States built into the banister.

Raked ceilings and exposed beams in the central areas of the home create a sense of space, and further accentuate the seaside aesthetic. The open-plan layout allows for easy entertaining, with the kitchen, living and dining zone flowing seamlessly to the balcony. Perfect for relaxing with guests, the terrace is sheltered from south-westerly winds, and offers uninterrupted vistas of the coastline.

Comprising three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a separate powder room, custom-made bunk beds for the grandchildren, and a games room that overlooks the pool and garden, the home has plenty of space for the whole family to enjoy.

Known for its environmentally friendly work ethic, Mondo Exclusive Homes incorporated a range of energy-efficient elements into the design, such as LED lights, and water-saving fixtures. The walls are built with Structural Insulated Panels (SIP), and clad internally with plasterboard and externally with compressed sheet weatherboards. The alternative method of construction used by Mondo Exclusive Homes is lightweight and requires very little maintenance.

Building on one of Perth’s busiest roads, with a sloping block and shared driveway, proved challenging. However, the company employed traffic management and expert scheduling to ensure the clients and neighbours were inconvenienced as little as possible.

Mondo Exclusive Homes was founded in 2009 by company director Ray Kershaw. With a wealth of hands-on experience and the ability to deal with architects, engineers and contractors with ease, Kershaw personally schedules and supervises every build to ensure each project is completed on time and within budget.
