Averna Homes Project 9

The featured show home has been designed for a block with a 10m frontage and 34m depth, and creates an intriguing conversation with its unique design principles and clean finishes.

Averna Homes’ general manager and building designer Paul Spatara incorporated a light and dark colour scheme to achieve a dramatic finish. Proving that in-home design can make the difference between ordinary and outstanding, the company has created a space that’s both functional and fashionable.

The display’s lower level features a spacious living room, an open-plan kitchen, a dining and family zone with L-shaped doors, and a covered alfresco. The upstairs of the home showcases four bedrooms, a walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite, as well as a shared bathroom and a study nook.

Concrete-look porcelain tiles have been teamed with black cabinetry and marble benchtops in the main part of the house to create a flawless finish. Polytec ‘Ravine’ – a timber product that resembles limed oak – has also been used throughout.

Using a combination of dark and light tones, the display home’s colour palette is strikingly modern. A black-rendered box shape comprises the front elevation and contrasts with the white porcelain façade, with a similar colour being used throughout the entire display.

The taps and shower roses are all black by Vito Bertoni, the kitchen sink is a sparkling black number by Franke. All the light switches are also an inky shade. Outside, dark colours have been used on the posts, planter boxes and screen to create a striking outdoor area.

Fitted by Ferguson Alfresco Lifestyle Corporation, the outdoor kitchen is the perfect spot for entertaining and is fitted with modern appliances to maximise functionality. Designed with family-living in mind, all bedrooms are the exact same size to help avoid any sibling rivalries and there is plenty of smart storage in the entranceway to accommodate school bags, shoes and coats to keep this area clutter-free.

By using porcelain and cedar finishes both inside and out, the company has developed a strong connection between the display’s carefully designed interior and exterior, creating a seamless flow between all of the living areas.

Open to the public for a limited time only, this stunning Carine-based show home is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm–5pm or other times by appointment.

While still a relatively young business, Averna Homes has already created a substantial presence within the luxury housing industry. In 2007, Averna Homes first opened its doors with the desire to design and build luxury homes a little differently to other companies in the Western Australian residential building market.

Guided by the company’s owner and managing director, Paul Serra, Averna Homes’ key to success is to emphasise innovative design, superior workmanship and excellence in customer service.

The mission at Averna Homes is to create innovative designs, provide an inspiring experience, create individual styles of living, offer value and make a difference, and finally, to deliver quality of craftsmanship. Through tireless dedication and working hard towards providing clients with the highest-quality homes, the team at Averna Homes has received a substantial number of industry awards. This acknowledgement of the company’s success by its industry peers is why Averna Homes is one of Perth’s leading boutique builders.
