This modern double-storey residence was designed and built by Mondo Exclusive Homes. Featuring a semi-industrial aesthetic and an open living area with an abundance of natural light, the project simultaneously fits the brief and sets Mondo Exclusive Homes’ standard for design even higher.

Comprising a carefully designed layout, each room in the spacious abode showcases a range of unique and timeless details. Mondo Exclusive Homes selected standard mix concrete from Hanson for the flooring, which was polished to achieve an industrial feel both internally and externally. The upper floor features carefully recycled timber, which was salvaged from the previous home before its demolition. With a new lease on life, the timber adds warmth to the home’s neutral colour palette.

A custom-designed balustrade was created for the polished-concrete staircase, which leads to a sleek void that overlooks the expansive living area. For a modern touch, unique strip lighting was installed behind the glass planar balustrades from Absolute Balustrades. In addition to keeping the space looking open and inviting, generous floor-to ceiling windows from Jason Windows provide views of the pool, which is tucked neatly beside the home.

As the pool is situated on a sloping block and in close proximity to neighbours, its excavation was forecasted to be a challenge. A strong emphasis on site supervision allowed Mondo Exclusive Homes to seamlessly insert the pool without a problem. Industrial-style travertine tiles were selected for the pool’s surrounds to create an effortless visual connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces.

Each large upper-floor bedroom includes a walk-in wardrobe for an added touch of luxury. Similarly, the kitchen exudes sophistication with clean lines and a practical scullery that conceals any mess from the eyes of guests. Beyond the scullery lies a custom cellar, which was created for the client’s impressive wine collection. A separate thermostat ensures the collection is continuously stored under the appropriate temperature. The eco-friendly property runs completely on solar power, and features cavity wall insulation and water-storage tanks to maximise sustainability while minimising energy costs and carbon emissions.
