This classic 1990s red-brick home received a transformative makeover, courtesy of Dalecki Design and Kre8 Constructions. In the inner city suburb of North Perth, building up is the most logical choice. With this in mind, the designer and builder agreed that the addition of another storey would allow the home to maintain its old-world charm while making room for more contemporary elements.

The owners wanted a private space to escape their busy lifestyle, so the new upper floor was to include a generous main bedroom with an en suite, and a sun-soaked reading nook. Featuring picturesque views of the backyard, sleek built-in cabinetry, and a gable ceiling for a spacious feel, the main bedroom is the tranquil retreat the owners had envisioned.

The adjacent en suite, like the rest of the home, is a space of luxury, and Kre8 Constructions’ precision and eye for detail is evident in the intricate finishes. Showcasing a beautiful combination of large, light-grey floor tiles, timber cabinetry, a rustic concrete benchtop, and mesmerising herringbone wall tiles, the aesthetic is opulent and modern.

The considered renovation recognises the home’s rich history, and begins a new chapter; beautiful jarrah floors meet sleek polished concrete, while the exterior provides a compelling contrast between the traditional rich, red brick and modern black cladding. Throughout the entire project, the old is strikingly defned from the new, yet both sit comfortably side by side.
