Inspired by the elegant beauty and relaxing ambience of Balinese villas, B & L Green Construction’s clients had specific requirements for their home, but no preconceived ideas for the layout, which allowed a concept to fall into place easily.

Designed by arc seven.1 and built by B & L Green Constructions, the home has incorporated a range of principles that the clients wanted, including open, practical spaces, free-flowing form, a feeling of spaciousness, and a clever blend of materials that creates visual interest and warmth. Care was taken to ensure rooms weren’t crammed into any one particular area, while the three-storey design has maximised the available space on the narrow block.

The clients also wanted their new home to be suited to their lifestyle. As frequent entertainers, they needed room for guests and wanted stunning interior and exterior design they could enjoy every day. Separate internal and external areas that can be opened up to form larger rooms have been included, while intimate spaces have also been created as a counter-balance.

Separate sleeping zones were created; one for the clients and another for the occasional guest. The guest wing also contains a living area; just one example of how attention to detail has resulted in an authentic, beautiful and luxurious home. There is superb workmanship throughout, including in the indoor/outdoor living areas, the secondfloor resort-style retreat, the lift, and the steam room.

A range of natural materials, including travertine, limestone and timber was used to link all levels and cultivate a harmonious flow throughout; while a 4.6m roof light further enhances the flow of natural light into the home and makes the most of the winter sun. Positioned over the stairs and void area, it allows light to filter through to the entry foyer, staircase and the living areas on the first floor.

The three-level design has designated living spaces. The ground floor houses the guest wing, while living areas are on the first floor and the bedroom/retreat area is on the second floor. The lift in the home not only allows for quick and simple access to each level; it will also be an important asset for the owners as they intend to live in the home for many years.
